This super stylish project involved the full scale re-modelling of a very large double bay-fronted Victorian Villa in Dalston, East London. Sourcing furniture, lighting, soft furnishings and accessories for the entire house kept us busy for months hunting down one-offs and quirky pieces. Some highlight finds include a beautiful 1960s sputnik globe Chandelier sourced from Alfie’s Antique’s Market and a beautiful 19th century Marble Fireplace for the front room. We particularly loved styling the baby room and worked with children’s fashion label I Love Gorgeous to populate the little baby girl’s clothes rail with a capsule collection of exquisite little dresses to get her fashionista future started.
Our design scheme is creative and contemporary, punctuated by pops of colour, an urban edge and layers of texture. We also designed some of the elements in-house, including a custom vintage-tile-effect wallpaper behind the master bed. The solid elm headboard was also designed by us in collaboration with a master craftsman in Scotland called Kenny. It took 4 men to lift into place and just needed some beautiful Bakelite switches as the finishing touch. We’re also particularly proud of the parquet wood floor, which was another of our bespoke designs, created by using a mix of Sap and Prime walnut boards to create a really vivid mix of tones. It took weeks to find the right wood and we’d like to personally thank Robert from Woodrow Parquet for sticking with our concept and tracking down the perfect Walnut nestling in a Dutch woodman’s warehouse.
